Interfaith Service To Honor Charleston Victims

Meanwhile local religious leaders are standing with those in South Carolina.

The Broome County Council of Churches is sponsoring an interfaith/ecumenical prayer Wednesday in response to the shooting at the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

The service will be at the Cornerstone Community Church at 911 East Main St., Endicott. It begins at 7 p.m.

All are invited to attend. There will be readings from Howard Thurman and Martin Luther King, as well as prayers and music from various faiths.

"We had an ACA shooting here an so there were 13 people who died in that. We know 12 were victims of that one shooter. So we are going to have prayer from various faith traditions that are going to be showed during this service along with special music," said Joe Sellepack, Executive Director of the Broome County Council of Churches.



the service will conclude with the lighting of candles for peace and reconciliation.
