SC Shooting Victims Remembered During Local Church Service

Some local churches are commemorating the lives lost in Charleston, South Carolina.

The Trinity AME Zion Church in Binghamton honored those 9 shooting victims through prayer Sunday.

Midway through the service, the congregation stood at the church's alter and held hands during their prayer time as their Reverend talked about the tragedy and also about the healing process that must take place to retain hope.

The message of Sunday's congregation was "Our Christian witness in a troubled world."

"In all that has transpired, of course, you can never bring back the loved ones. But at least we want to try to come together in a spirit of community and worship to pray that God will give them all that they need to go through this tragedy," said Trinity AME Zion Church Rev. Paul Gordon Carter.

Other churches in the area also paid tribute Sunday morning. The Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church in Binghamton held a moment of silence at the beginning of their service.
