Plenty of Support For the Boys and Girls Golf Tournament

The rain held off for the 32nd annual Boys and Girls Golf Tournament on Thursday.

Twenty-four, four man teams came to show their support Thursday afternoon. Officials say that they hope to raise anywhere from $22,000 to $25,000 dollars that would go to the groups education program.

The program helps children with tutoring, homework and being prepared for school. Funds would go towards extra staff and more materials.

Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club Marybeth Smith said, "It's more important than ever because we have a lot of children and every day the need grows but as we all no with some of the non profits some of the funding sources are just not there anymore or they're just not as much as they used to be."

The tournament was held at the Vestal Hills Country Club and sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods and Tioga Downs.
