Southside Binghamton Resident Enters Race for City Council

A resident of Binghamton's south side has announced her candidacy for District 5 of City Council.

Democrat Dara Silberstein along with her supporters made the announcement at MacArthur park Thursday evening. The mother of two says she has broad experience in community service and deep ties to the Binghamton area. Silberstein says she has served as an attorney at the Broome Legal Assistance Corporation and held board positions with various organizations including the Crime Victim's Assistance Center.

"I know this community fairly well, I walk many of the streets, my kids are friends with lots of kids in this community. So I believe in supporting small business owners in that commercial business district and doing what we can to really revitalize this community,"said Dara Silberstein, Candidate for District 5, City Council.

Silberstein is a graduate of SUNY Binghamton. She earned her law degree at Buffalo University and her PhD from Cornell University.
