JC Makes Police Chief Appointment Permanent

By Fox 40 Staff.
The Johnson City Village Board made it official Tuesday night, permanently appointing Brent Dodge as police chief.

Dodge was appointed on a provisional basis last September. He took over from Joseph Zikuski, who had served as chief for both Binghamton and Johnson City before the two municipalities decided to not continue the shared arrangement. The chief position comes with a salary of $94,000.

"I'm feeling good. I'm pleased that I did well on the test and I'm very happy with the job. It's very exciting, There's a lot of challenges that I'm looking forward to undertaking still so I'm pleased that the appointment has been made permanent," said Dodge.

Also at Tuesday night's village meeting, the board approved a resolution supporting the location of a casino by the state at Tioga Downs in Nichols, New York.
