BPD Officer Accusing Chief of Sexual Harassment Withdraws Complaint

By Fox 40 Staff.
The Binghamton police officer who took her complaints of sexual harassment against Chief Joseph Zikuski to the State Division of Human Rights has withdrawn her complaint.

Kristi Sager has accepted a 60-day suspension without pay and will thereafter be reinstated to her duties as a patrol officer. A joint statement from the city and Sager's attorney Ron Benjamin says all issues between the parties are resolved.

Sager had claimed misconduct charges against her were retaliation by Zikuski for refusing his sexual advances. Zikuski was placed on administrative leave. Late Thursday afternoon a spokesperson for Mayor Rich David said the Mayor will make a decision regarding Chief Zikuski's status after reviewing the results of an independent report by the law firm of Coughlin and Gerhart. David was already scheduled to meet this week with the lead attorney conducting the review to receive a full briefing.
