Governor Cuomo Unveils Millions in Funding for Upstate Schools
Governor Andrew Cuomo unveils a $100 million fund to help upstate New York's neediest school districts.
The Governor's new initiative called the Upstate Distressed School fund is designed to provide additional support to schools designated as "failing" by the State Education Department.
The fund will compliment the $75 million included in the 2015-2016 budget to help the states' worse 27 failing schools.
In the City of Yonkers, the funding will support programs and avoid staff lay-offs. Funding will also support operating expenses to resources designed to improve students' test scores and graduation rates through Upstate New York.
