Upstate beats Downstate 31-7 for first ever win in Football Classic
The High School football season doesn't begin for another three months but it's good to talk about the success of Section IV football. 13 Section IV players put their pads on and played in the Upstate-Downstate football game. Not this contest hasn't been played in two years and a game where upstate hasn't won since the match up debuted in 2010.
Today, the Upstate team scored 31 points on the Downstate team to earn their first ever victory since the game has been constructed.
"It's just great! The kids played so well. This is so much better than I could have imagined. I thought it was going to be nice but it was just great, the kids came out and played hard. They had a lot of fun doing it," said Dave Hogan, Upstate Coach and Chenango Forks Football Head Coach.
The New York State High School Football Coaches Association sponsored the Football Classic at Ithaca College.
