Manhunt For Escaped Prisoners Continues Through New York State

The manhunt continues in New York for the two convicts who escaped from prison last weekend.

Authorities started searching in Cadyville, New York early Saturday morning.

The two men are identified as Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34 -- Sweat is responsible for the death of a Broome County Sheriff's Deputy.

Saturday morning, the search focused on the heavily wooded area along Route 3 in Cadyville. Matt and Sweat are believed to have used power tools to break out of the prison.

Search efforts are also underway in Vermont as well. Hundreds of officers, forest rangers and State Troopers believe to be closing in on the duo.

Police said there have been no confirmed sightings of the pair, but K9's picked up their scent earlier this week. Meanwhile, the surrounding community is at a standstill.
