Middle School Holds Block Party

Time to party! A middle school invites the community out for some fun.

Saturday West Middle School in Binghamton held their first annual Block party.
The school invited community members to enjoy some free games, music and food. Animal Adventure was also present with live animals. More than 300 people attended.

"Our big thing at West, and just the school district, we want to bring the community in. We're a school literally in the middle of a neighborhood, so it's nice sometimes to open up, not to just students, but anyone could come today. We just wanted to bring the community closer to the school and the school closer to the community," said Collaborative Coach at West Middle School Laura Zanrucha.

At the event there were also carousel horse pictures bought and donated by local businesses and school faculty to raise money so that each student at the middle school can receive "We are West" T-shirts next year.
