Clark dreams of playing in the big leagues

Like most young kids, JC grad Ryan Clark grew up with dreams of playing the major leagues. Unlike most young kids, Clark has a real chance at making that dream come true. Clark was drafted in the 5th round of the MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday as the 150th overall pick.

While the big leagues may still be a few years off, if he gets there at all, it's still much closer than the millions of other kids that have ever stepped foot on a baseball diamond.

"It's always been my dream to play Major League Baseball," Clark said. "Ever since I was little I believed I could do this. Now, did other people believe that was going to happen? I'm not sure. But in my head it was something that was always going to happen. It was something I always wanted and I was going to do whatever I could to reach that goal. Through the help of all the people that have been around me through my baseball career and teaching me and helping me become not just a better player but a better person, I'm getting that shot to reach that goal if everything goes well."

Clark will begin the season with the rookie level Danville Braves of the Appalchian League. The season opener is scheduled for June 23.
