BU's Garn advances to NCAA Finals

EUGENE, Oregon – Senior middle distance runner Jesse Garn has advanced to the finals of the men's 800 at the NCAA Track & Field Championships, which are being held at the University of Oregon. He won the second of three preliminary heats in a time of 1:47.68.

There were 24 entrees in the men's 800, which were divided into three heats of eight runners. The top two finishers in each race, along with the next two fastest times, advanced to the final. That race will be run on Friday at 8:50 p.m. EST and be aired live on ESPN.

Garn's winning time was 1:47.68, which was just ahead of Andres Arroyo of Florida. The fastest overall time in the preliminaries, was turned in by Edward Kemboi of Iowa State (1:45.58).
