DSGO regarded as one of the best tournaments on tour

After back-to-back Presidents Award wins for "Best Overall Tournament" on the Champions Tour in 2012 and 2013, the Dick's Sporting Goods Open won the Players Award for best tournament as voted by the players. Tournament Director John Karedes and his staff work year round to make the DSGO a week long event centered around a golf tournament rather than just a three day, 54 hole tournament. After record breaking crowds for the Friday night concert series the last two years with Tim McGraw and Zac Brown Band, the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality brings another huge country performance to En-Joie with Lady Antebellum.

"We're trying to create an atmosphere for everyone utilizing the 54 hole tournament as a cornerstone and building from there," Karedes said. "So, it's important to us that we don't lose sight of what this is all about, for $1.9 million. We want to do some things for the community that help generate addition income, additional charitable dollars, those things that make this event a little more than just a golf tournament."

"It's a wonderful golf course to start off with on top of presenting a great venue year after year," said defending champion Bernhard Langer. "The players love the golf course, but then we also get treated very nicely by the sponsors, but the tournament organizers. They got a great set up. It's all right there and it's wonderful to see how many people come out to cheer us on."

Tournament play begins August 28th.
