Dempsey optimistic about depth

Injuries happen. Unfortunately for the BU Bearcats last season, they all happened at the same time which also happened to be right after their start player announced he was transferring from the team. This also coming with two redshirt freshman sitting out a season. Quickly after Jordan Reed announced his transfer, Dusan Perovic and Nick Madray suffered season ending injuries with other minor injuries keeping other players out for a game or two. This, at times left Tommy Dempsey with eight available players. That's not a winning formula.

With Reed, Madray, and Magnus Richards all transferring and Jabrille Williams graduating, four new players join the Bearcats (transfer J.C. Show will be ineligible) as well as John Schurman and Jordan McRae becoming eligible after their redshirt year. Again, injuries happen, but if they don't this year, the Bearcats should be in good shape.

"If we can stay healthy, we think we're going to have a lot of depth," Dempsey said. "We had to address, we didn't shoot the ball very well. To get a guy like John Schurman eligible, to get Dusan back, and then spend as much time in the offseason with some of the guys who we think that can be great shooters who didn't shoot as great maybe as freshman. I think that we'll shoot the ball better."

The Bearcats open the season on the road against St. Bonaventure on November 13.
