Community Remembers Sister Mary Ann Brawley

Community members and Lourdes hospital workers are mourning the loss of one of their own.

On Saturday, Sister Mary Anne Brawley passed away from health complications inside her home at the age of 81.

Brawley was known as an educator in Endicott and Binghamton and served as board chair at Lourdes Hospital for 14 years.

Brawley first came to Lourdes in 1998, and returned as a volunteer in 2014.

She's described as community spirited, a faithful woman and above all, a friend that will never be forgotten.

"Many people in the community who faced both health challenges, socioeconomic challenges whatever it was sister befriended them and they had a friend for life. And she was part in parcel with that issue with them and saw many people through very hard times. And that will never be forgotten by so many its hard to know how many lives she's touched because it would be so enormous we would have no capability of understanding," said Kathy Connerton, Our Lady of Lourdes President and CEO.

Seton High School also has set up a scholarship fund in Brawley's honor.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Binghamton on Wednesday, June 12th and noon.
