Community Members Attend Last Day of Greecian Fest

A little piece of Greece makes its way to Vestal.

Sunday was the final day for the 42nd annual Greek Festival at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation.

More than 10,000 people attended the event throughout the weekend. Those who joined the festivities enjoyed Greek culture through food, drinks and music.

Sunday there was even a special dance called the Sirto performed by a variety of Greek dancers.

According to organizers, this year's weather helped an already successful event produce an even larger turnout.

"The weather this year was absolutely fantastic because it wasn't too cold, it wasn't too hot, and there was no rain. Now people will still come even if they have the rain, but this was really special because it didn't affect the people coming. And the older people too because if it's rainy or if it's too cold then it's a little bit more difficult," said Volunteer at Greek Festival Hrisoula.

Thousands of dollars were raised and proceeds from the event will benefit the church and those in need throughout the community.
