State Senate Passes Bill to Name Bridge After Trooper Skinner
The State Senate has unanimously passed a bill that would rename the bridge over Route 81 in the Town of Chenango in honor of State Police Trooper Christopher Skinner.
Skinner was killed in May of 2014 when he was conducting a traffic stop on Route 81 between exits six and seven. That's when, according to State Police, he was intentionally struck and killed by Florida resident Almond Upton. Upton is scheduled to stand trial for Skinner's death in November. The bill, sponsored by State Senator Tom Libous, now goes to the Assembly for a vote.
