BU duo honored for chance in Nationals

For the first time in the Division I history of the Binghamton University Track & Field Program two Bearcats are headed to the NCAA Championships. For the first time ever, one of them is a female competitor. Keshorea Armstrong holds that prestigious honor, competing in the long jump. Jesse Garn will compete in the 800 meter after a disqualification in the Indoor National Meet.

They'll be going up against competitors from much bigger schools where NCAA Titles are expected, so for them to represent Binghamton is an honor.

"Oh, it's such an honor. It's an honor to be competing against such great athletes at Nationals," Armstrong said. "It's an even greater honor to be doing it for Binghamton, especially so we have some representation on the girls side. I'm looking forward to it."

"It's incredible for a mid-major program in the northeast to be able to send athletes and be competitive at the national level," Garn said. "I think that's a testament to the program, the coaches that we have here, everything about it."

The National Championships begin June 10th in Eugene, Oregon.
