Grant for Task Force to Reduce Recidivism, Incarcerated Individuals Across the State
Helping previously incarcerated individuals across New York State and right here in Broome County transition back into their communities: that's the goal of a $3.3 million grant the Governor announced earlier today.
Governor Cuomo says the $3.3 million for re-entry task forces will be spread across 19 counties that will coordinate services like substance abuse programs, mental healthcare and job training opportunities to make the re entry process safer.
According to the governor these task forces are specifically designed to reduce recidivism and protect the public.
Each task force including the task force for Broome County had to detail a plan. The Broome County Department of Mental Health will be receiving $101,760 for this task force.
