Cornwell Announces Run for Broome County D.A.

By Fox 40 Staff.
A Binghamton lawyer is set to challenge Broome County District Attorney Gerald Mollen in November.

Steve Cornwell has announced his campaign for Broome County District Attorney. The Republican says if elected he wants to focus on making the community a safer and more attractive place to live. Cornwall says his main goal however, is to attack the heroin epidemic. Cornwell says it all starts by educating the younger generation.

Cornwell said, "Get into the schools, spend the time, bring in other speakers to address this issue to the children. We'll learn from them, they don't want to see their friends dying of heroin either.

They want to do something about it but we need education to work that generation. Get these kids while they're in school and really focus in on explaining to them and teaching them the dangers that are out there."

Cornwell has practiced family and criminal law at the Cornwell Law Office. He served as a prosecutor for District Attorney Gerald Mollen from 2007 to 2009.
