The Broome County Sheriff's office says the prescription take back program has been a big success.
Officials say from October of last year to March of this year 840 pounds of expired and unwanted medications were collected. During April and May the Sheriff's partnered with various county agencies and collected an additional 800 pounds of medication for disposal. The drugs were secured and transported to an incinerator facility in Oswego.
You can drop off your unwanted and expired medications at the Sheriff's drop box Monday through Friday from 7 a-m. to 5 p.m.
