Untested Blue Devils relying on heart

The Chenango Forks Blue Devils are in uncharted territory for their girls lacrosse program - the State Playoffs. Last week, they won the first Section IV Title in program history and were right back on the field, fired up for practice Monday.

Having never seen the state playoffs before, it's understandable if they're a little overexcited or even anxious, but they've been playing gutsy lacrosse all season and have been doing it as a team.

"I think we have the heart," said Brooke Maietta. "We have amazing coaches. We've worked hard all season for this. Our team can really work as a team, we don't get down on each other. I just think we have the heart to do anything we put our minds to."

"They love each other as teammates, as friends," said Head Coach Mike O'Hearn. "They understand that they've made a little bit of history here at Forks and we want to keep it going. We support one another, we help one another, and I think that will carry us through."

Forks plays Skaneatles of Section III on Thursday at 4:00 at Maine-Endwell.
