Zoo Runners "Run Wild!"

People are running like wild.... literally!

It was all part of the 2nd annual Run Wild 5K at the Vestal Coal House.

More than two hundred people came out to take part in the run.
In addition to the race, there were educational displays on the course and two zoo-mobiles set up where people could meet animals.

The zoo also held activities where kids could color animal pictures after the race. Medals were awarded to different winners.

Race contests also included a school participation contest, drawing contest and costume contest.

"The Vestal Coal house came to us last year and they wanted to do a run for us and we thought it was the perfect opportunity because we've always wanted to do a 5K. Unfortunately, the zoo is a little too hilly, so it would not work out as well for a 5K there so we thought the Vestal Rail Trail would be the perfect spot," said Public Relations Coordinator at the Binghamton Zoo Rachel Davenport.

More than three thousand dollars was raised today and proceeds will help to support expenses for the zoo.
