Veterans Honored at Broome County Legislature

The Broome County Legislature honored several residents tonight for their years of military service.

Veteran Organizations nominated thirteen residents for recognition awards at tonight's Fifth Annual Veterans of Distinction ceremony which was held in the Legislative chambers.

Several members of the legislature presented the veterans with the distinction awards and described their services in The United States Army, Navy and Marine Corps.

First Sergeant, David Youngs says it is an honor to be nominated and to have a special connection with his fellow nominees.

Youngs also said, "Those that have served in the military understand that connection. It doesn't matter which branch of service that you come from, it's when you serve, you have a different outlook on life and the country itself."

A reception was held after the ceremony where students from George F. Johnson Elementary School and Johnson City Elementary School displayed their veteran themed artwork.
