National Public Works Week celebrated in Binghamton
With summer projects in full swing, the city of Binghamton is honoring the public works department.
This week is national public works week and Mayor Rich David is praising the 172 men and women who spend hours working on the local roads, parks, and street lighting. David says he has committed 28 million dollars in infrastructure improvements for the city since taking office in January of 2014.
"Their work is vital. without public works, there would be no Binghamton, no parks, no facilities, and no infrastructure. The 16 months that I have been in office, we have made infrastructure a top priority," said Mayor David.
Since 1960, the American Public Works Association has sponsored this appreciation week. There are 28,000 members across North America that are being recognized.
