Bearcats looking to stay relaxed for first NCAA appearance

Having won their first America East Softball Title, the Binghamton University Bearcats are in uncharted territory heading into this weekend's NCAA Tournament. BU will travel to James Madison University in a four team regional that also includes Fordham and NC State.

With this being their first go around in the NCAA Tournament, they're looking to stay relaxed and play the same brand of fun softball that won them the America East.

"In the championship game we did a lot of dancing, a lot of singing, a lot of cheering in the dugout, but our cheering revolves mostly around the beats with the balls," said Sydney Harbaurgh, junior outfielder. "I think that a big thing for us is just staying loose and having fun. We were singing songs before the second game. I think that's when we do our best."

"This part is just about playing nice and relaxed and playing the way they can," said Head Coach Michelle Burrell. "They've been playing with really good energy and playing together as a team and we're just going to look to keep that up."

BU travels to JMU for the first round against the Dukes on Friday at 4:30.
