Bearcats confident entering regionals

The Binghamton University Bearcats softball team is headed to its first ever NCAA tournament. Coming off their first ever America East Title win, the Bearcats are riding high and feeling confident after learning that they're headed to James Madison University for the opening round regional.

Joining BU at JMU will be Fordham and NC State. The Bearcats are familiar with all three possible opponents. They traveled to JMU two seasons ago and played against Fordham and NC State earlier this year. Even though they lost to the Rams and the Wolfpack, they still like their chances.

"We played them early in the year, which we weren't the same team in the beginning of the year as we are now," said Sydney Harbaugh, junior outfielder. "So, I think that's great and I think mentally it eases us a little bit knowing we're on a level playing field for this bracket. That's all we can ask for."

"We know what they look like and we're going to take mistakes we made in the past and just fix them and we're going to win," said Caytlin Friis, senior shortstop."

"I think the girls know that if they play the way that they can, they can beat anybody," said Head Coach Michelle Burrell.

BU plays JMU in the opener on Friday at 4:30.
