Broome Tioga Families Get Muddy for a Cause

Families are taking on the mud for a good cause.

It was all part of the second annual Mud Mountain Rock and Run held at the Broome Tioga Sports Center.

The 5-K Mud Run and Musical Festival featured mud pits, obstacles, food and music. There was even a “Kid’s K” for the younger runners. More than $2,100 was raised Saturday and proceeds will help benefit the Family Enrichment Network in funding family programs.

"We talked about the obesity rates in Broome County and how we could start to do something with that and keep people active. So we always have to have events and we wanted something that would engage kids so this works into that and just gets families thinking of fun ways to do things besides sitting on the couch," said director of special events at the Family Enrichment Network Kelly Weiss.

The Family Enrichment Network will hold another golf tournament in September.
