Police Week Basketball Tournament to Help Officer's Family

Southern Tier police officers are bringing their a-game to the court for Police Week.

The 3rd annual Police Week Charity Basketball Tournament is this Saturday at St. Pats church in Binghamton.

The tournament is not just honoring the police officers, but also helping fellow police officer, Dave Ely, with expenses for his daughter, who has Type 5 Regular Aplasia and needs several surgeries.

"Its a good way for us to honor. Honor police officers, the people that are serving, the officers that lost their lives in line of duty. But also its a local family, we want to help people and they can definitely use the money to help with the medical expenses and traveling expenses," said Brad Kaczynski, Event Coordinator and Binghamton Police Department Patrolman.

The tournament begins at 3pm and there will be raffles as well as live music and food.
