Volunteers Honored for Making a Difference in Community
Some local volunteers were honored Thursday for making a difference in the lives of the elderly. Faith in Action volunteers attended a commitment awards ceremony.
It was the 17th year the awards breakfast has taken place. The Faith in Action program pairs a volunteer with an elderly member and assists with tasks such as grocery shopping and driving them to doctor appointments. Four volunteers were given the life commitment award.
Program Director of Faith and Action Volunteers Jessica Wylde said, "But it's very important for us because we can see the work that they do. And to inspire other people to find the service within themselves that they're comfortable with that they can make a difference as well."
