Lottery Ticket Phrase Reveals Offensive Message

The purchaser of a New York State Lottery instant scratch off ticket in Chemung County was looking for a jackpot. Instead, she got a potshot.

She was playing the "Wheel of Fortune" game and when she scratched off the categories person, place and thing at the bottom of the ticket, the words spelled out "you Elmira trash."

She thought the ticket may have been tampered with so she turned it over to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office.
However, further investigation revealed that the ticket was genuine and coincidentally sold in the Elmira area.

The New York State Lottery was also notified of the buyer's concerns so it could take whatever action it felt was necessary.
