Law Enforcement Officers Lace up Their Skates for a Good Cause
Some members of the law enforcement community laced up their hockey skates and took to the ice to raise money for the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Memorial Association. The 11th Annual Police Memorial Hockey Game took place at the Chenango Ice Rink.
Admission to the game was free, but the proceeds from the raffles benefit the scholarship program.
Friday kicks off a series of events that will be taking place for the 33rd Annual Police Memorial Week.
"The entire police week is in remembrance for officers that have lost their lives in the line of duty. When that unfortunate occurrence happens the money that is raised, not only from this hockey game but other events, goes towards their families." said Tim Holland.
On Sunday, a non- denominational memorial church service will take place in Johnson City to honor those killed in the line of duty.
