Elementary School Students Help the Samaritan House

St. James elementary school participates in many community service projects and their latest is collecting household items for the Samaritan House.

Tuesday morning, 5th grade students helped carry boxes from the school to the Samaritan House truck. This was part of their service project for the month of April and Principal Matthew Martinkovic says the service project teaches a valuable lesson to students about the importance of giving back.

"I think what it ultimately does is it is going to help these kids to remember where they came from, what community they came from, how they can improve it, and how every christian learner here can think about what they can do to keep it improving every day," said Principal Martinkovic.

The Samartian House provides resources for women and children, veterans, the elderly, and victims of mental illness.
