Locals Remember Mario Masciarelli

Locals are coming together to raise money and honor the life of Mario Masciarelli.

Masciarelli is a Binghamton man who fell victim of murder in 2013.
Saturday, more than 1,000 family, friends and community members gathered at the Southern Tier Harley Davidson for a benefit for S-V schools in memory of Masciarelli.

The event included food, raffles, baskets, live music and motorcycles on display which Mirella Masciarelli, Mario's mother, says he was a big fan of riding. She also says the event has helped to shed light on their family's tragic situation.

"I lost Mario in a horrible way. And bringing awareness to crimes in our area is very important in bringing the community together. And this event has restored my faith in humankind," said Mirella Masciarelli, mother of Mario.
More than $34,000 in donations were gathered from local businesses in Saturday’s event.

Proceeds raised from the event will be donated for Mario's Endowment Fund and given to Susquehanna Valley's Dollars for Scholars.
