Arbor Day Celebrations

It might have been a little chilly out Friday but that didn't stop the Discovery Center from celebrating the 143rd Arbor Day.

Five new trees were planted in the Discovery Center's Storybook Garden with the help of Mayor David and members of Binghamton Parks and Recreation.

When the warmer weather finally does arrive these new trees will offer a variety of different blooms adding to the aesthetic of the garden and the city.

Mayor David says, "They beautify our community, they increase the property values of our neighborhoods, they reduce our heating and cooling costs, and of course they enhance the area of which they are located."

Mayor David says there will also be 150 trees planted throughout the city which is 50 more than 2014.
