Crime Victim's Assistance Center Holds Survivor's Tribute

One group of people linked by similar tragedies and experiences, gathered tonight at Otsiningo Park to honor survivors and remember lost loved ones.

The survivor's tribute is one of multiple events the Crime Victim's Assistance Center is putting on this week in honor of National Crime Victim's Rights Week.

One mother who lost her son says the organization has helped her and her family through every step of their grieving process.

The Executive Director says the organization aims to help these families cope and begin to heal.

"I think it's a chance for victims to connect to each other and sort of meet on the same page when it comes to some of their experiences," says Raini Baudendistel, Executive Director of the Crime Victim's Assistance Center.

"It helps us to remember Gary when he was alive instead of thinking all the time about him being dead," said Barbara Hassinger, one victim's mother.

Baudendistel says that tonight they continued to focus on the resiliency of the human spirit among all kinds of abuse and assault survivors.
