BU's Alpha Epsion Pi Holds Annual Rock-A-Thon Fundraiser

One local Binghamton University student is rocking his way towards a brighter future.

Jared Helfand, a brother of Alpha Epsilon Pi will be sitting in a rocking chair for 48 hours straight to raise money for the American Cancer Society and the Israel Children's Cancer Foundation.

The fraternity hopes to raise $5,000 dollars through out the next two days.

Helfand says that among many reasons to support this cause, his grandfather was a pancreatic cancer survivor and a major role model in his life.

"That's something that I can't praise enough because I've personally never been affected by cancer, thank God. But these children have and these adults have and I'm rocking in this chair so that others one day can too," said Jared Helfand a brother of Alpha Epsilon Pi.

Also as a part of the Rock-A-Thon fundraiser 2014 Miss New York Pageant winner Jillian Tapper will make a special guest appearance to help promote the event.
