Town of Norwich Resident Announces his Candidacy for Chenango County District Attorney

The first person to challenge Chenango County District Attorney Joseph Mcbride since 1999 announced his candidacy Monday.

Assistant Public Defender and City of Norwich resident Zachary Wentworth announced that he is seeking the republican nomination for the position.

Wentworth says there aren't many contested races in Chenango County--but he says people want to be able to choose their elected officials, while current District Attorney Joseph McBride says though he welcomes Wentworth to run, Wentworth does not have the level of trial experience that he has acquired over the course of his career.

"I've always been a Chenango County resident. I think I understand what it means to live in Chenango County--the struggles people here face, that I think should be taken into consideration," says Zachary Wentworth, Assistant Public Defender.

"I have 30 yeras of trial experience, and doing felony level work and jury trials throughout New York State, also some history of some jury trial work in Arizona. My job is one of the most important jobs in the county," said Joseph McBride.

The primary is in September and the general election is in November.
