SUNY Broome to Host 26th Annual Heart Walk, Sunday

Walking is good for your heart but maybe never more so than Sunday morning at SUNY Broome.

That's when the American Heart Association will hold it's 26th Annual Heart Walk.

The event will be at the SUNY Broome Ice Center. Registration is at 9:00 and the walk begins at 10:30. Along with the walk there will be food vendors, nutrition education, and blood-pressure monitors.

"I think that everyone should come out and walk and support not just yourself but your family members. I don't walk for myself. I walk for my children, my nieces, my grandparents, all the people I know are affected by heart disease," said heart attack survivor Megan Farmer.

According to the American Heart Association one in every three adults in the US has some form of heart disease today or has had a stroke. But, 80 percent of cardiovascular disease is preventable.
