Broome County Makes Disposing of Old Prescription Drugs Easy

A new solution to dispose of old prescription drugs. Wednesday was the first of five events Broome County is putting together to allow people to safely dispose of expired prescription drugs.

People dropped off their old meds at the Broome West Senior Center in Endwell. There will be four other drop-offs this month: Friday at the Northern Broome Senior Center in Whitney Point, April 16th at the First Ward Senior Center in Binghamton, April 17th at the Eastern Broome Senior Center in Harpursville and the Johnson City Senior Center on April 28th.

"The public safety end is that you don't have to worry about your grandchildren getting into the drugs and something happening to them. Or, maybe some family members stealing drugs because of a drug habit, it cuts a lot of that down," said Broome County Sheriff David Harder.

You can bring your medications right in their bottles or boxes. All contents will be incinerated. and you don't just have to be a senior. People of all ages can drop off expired medication at these events.
