B-Mets lineup stocked top to bottom

It's true that a baseball team needs good pitching to succeed. But, keeping runs off the board is just as important as putting runs on the board. The 2015 B-Mets lineup is solid top to bottom with many faces returning from last year's Eastern League Title team.

The lineup will be anchored by Brandon Nimmo, Dustin Lawley, Jayce Boyd, Xorge Carillo, and T.J. Rivera with Gavin Cecchini, who scored the game winning run against Richmond in last year's title clinching win, seeing more playing time. Returning to Binghamton after spending last year with the Marlins organization, Josh Rodriguez will bring a veteran presence to the clubhouse and the lineup. One thing's for sure, opposing pitchers beware, there doesn't seem to be an easy out in the B-Mets lineup.

"It's great, it's great to have guys back," Rivera said. "Obviously you want to move up the rankings. You want to move up to Triple-A and obviously the big leagues. But it's great to have a great group of guys back not only the old guys but the new guys as well. I think it's going to be a fun year."

"Not only having guys that were here last year, it's having key components of those guys," said B-Mets manager Pedro Lopez. "Guys that we know for a fact are going to be hitting in the middle of the lineup, it's not the same as having a guy that we know is going to be hitting in the bottom of the lineup versus a guy that's going to be an impact player."

The B-Mets open the season on the road on Thursday in Akron. Matt Koch gets the start on the mound against the Rubber Ducks.
