Binghamton Women's Lacrosse Falls to Vermont 18-7

VESTAL, N.Y.—The women's lacrosse team (5-7, 1-3 America East) lost to the University of Vermont (9-4, 2-1 America East) today by a score of 18-7 at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

UVM used a 9-0 run to separate themselves from the Bearcats, including a 7-0 stretch to open the second half. Binghamton started the game by falling behind 6-1 with the lone goal going to Brianne Arthur on a free position shot.

The Bearcats then scrapped back into contention, scoring three of the next four goals to make it 7-4 Catamounts. Tiffany Ryan scored on a free position shot, and Callon Williams added her first goal of the game via free position shot as well. Ryan's second goal (from Sophia Racciatti) closed out the Bearcat scoring in the half. Binghamton would trail after the first period 9-4.

Vermont would then open up the second half with seven straight goals before Callon Williams tallied her second goal of the game at 11:54. After two more UVM goals, Williams scored on a free position shot, and then took the ball all the way in herself to score her fourth and final goal of the game.

The four goals is a season-high for the sophomore, and the most that she's scored since netting five against Siena on March 20 of last year.

Valerie DeNapoli recorded nine draw controls for BU, a career high for the sophomore. Sophia Racciatti recorded her team-leading ninth and tenth assists for the season as well.

The Bearcats will travel to St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, April 7 for a 3 p.m. non-conference game with the Bonnies. They will resume conference play on Friday, April 10 at New Hampshire.
