Elementary Students Try New Foods While Learning About Healthy Lifestyle Choices
Today, students at George F. Johnson Elementary School got the opportunity to get in the kitchen and create healthy meals.
The Junior League of Binghamton hosted their eighth annual Kids in the Kitchen Anti-Obesity Initiative at the school in order to promote healthy lifestyle. First through fifth grade students got to have some fun with fitness as well as prepare several healthy menu choices with instruction from the Lourdes Hospital Chef.
Kim Tait, Kids in the Kitchen Chairperson said, "This is the age when kids really start developing habits and start defining their own likes and dislikes. So to get them at this point in time trying new foods really kind of broadens their options later on."
The students got to take home their new favorite foods as well as mini meals they created for themselves to share with their families.
