Sabers aim for Federation as icing on the cake

Bringing home a State Title is the dream of every high school athlete, but the SV girls have a chance to go even further. On Saturday the Sabers travel to Albany for the Federation playoffs to decide the overall best team in the state. While having a state title is enough, the Sabers obviously want to bring home the Federation title as well, but failing to do so would not be a disappointment.

"We're going to be sad that it's over, but to lose up there is just a pretty big accomplishment to even get up there to the point that we won there and got up there to play," said Erin Nolan, Sabers sophomore forward.
"We're kind of content with a state championship, but I know myself and the girls as well are really competitive, so to win the highest level we can get to would probably be a great thing for all of us," said Head Coach Chad Freije.
"I think that this weekend is a challenge, like a 'see what we can do' kind of thing," said Jordyn Williams, Sabers senior guard, captain. "We didn't expect any of this, we just worked hard every day and waited to see what would happen. Just worked hard every game. I think we're just going to do that again and see what happens."

SV plays Staten Island Academy on Saturday at 9am at Albany's SEFCU Arena.
