Estate of Dead Inmate Sues Broome County, Sheriff
Monday, March 23, 2015 8:34 PM EDT
The estate of the Broome County inmate who was found dead in jail in January is now suing Broome County, Sheriff David Harder, and others in connection to his death.
On January 15th, Salladin Barton was found unresponsive in his cell and later pronounced dead at Wilson Hospital.
According to a lawsuit filed Monday in Broome County court Barton faced abuse by unnamed deputies and was viciously beaten the day he was found unresponsive in his cell.
Sheriff Harder didn't have a response to the lawsuit Monday because he hadn't seen it and hadn't yet been served.
However after Barton's death Harder denied allegations that Barton was abused.
