B-Sens 3 game win streak haulted at Bridgeport with 7-1 loss

BRIDGEPORT, C.T. – The Binghamton Senators fell 7-1 to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in their final game of a three-in-three weekend.

Kael Mouillierat scored his 19th goal of the season just over two minutes into the first period with a lacrosse-style wraparound goal to beat Peter Mannino. Alan Quine doubled the Sound Tigers’ lead at the 4:38 mark of the first period off assists from Mike Halmo and Kevin Czuczman bringing the score to 2-0.

Buddy Robinson cut the host’s lead in half after putting home a feed from Alex Guptill on a two-on-one rush. Griffin Reinhart gave the two-goal cushion back to Bridgeport after going underneath Mannino’s blocker with a little less than eight minutes remaining in the first. The B-Sens went to the locker room trailing the Sound Tigers 3-1 and 14-10 in shots.

Bridgeport scored a pair of goals in both the second and the third period to push the final score to 7-1. Quine scored his second of the night 7:38 into the second followed by Aaron Ness’s 8th of the year less than four minutes later. John Persson scored a power-play goal 11:51 in the third to put the score to 6-1 before Johan Sundstrom notched the final tally of the night almost five minutes later.

Mannino stopped 33 shots in the losing effort while Kevin Poulin had 30 saves for his 16th win of the year.

Binghamton will be on home ice again both Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, as they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Bridgeport Sound Tigers, respectively.
