Humane Society Hosts Inaugural Toys and Collectible Show
A child's pastime teams up with man's best friend for a good cause.
Saturday, local toy vendors showcased toys and collectibles ranging from matchbox cars to porcelain dolls. More than 150 locals gathered at the American Legion Post 1645 for the Humane Society's first ever Toys and Collectible Show. The event included door prizes, a bake sale; and even one of the organizations' adoption dogs was there to join in on the fun.
Robin Barron, co-organizer of the event, said, "Anytime we do a fundraiser for the animals at the shelter we have people come out and support us. And it's making people aware of our animals."
Saturday's event raised more than $1,500 dollars. Funds go toward food and medical expenses for the animals. Organizers say the Humane Society will host a rummage sale in April.
