Student's Learn About Jobs in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math
Students in grades 7 through 12 had a chance to learn first hand about jobs in the science, technology, engineering, arts, and math fields.
The Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program sponsored the event which educates young people about opportunities in these fields. Local businesses such as IBM, Lockheed Martin and Lourdes Hospital set up exhibits to help engage the students and provide them with information about opportunities at their companies.
Amy Shaw the Executive Director of the Binghamton Education Outreach Program said, "So many of them focus on STEAM and it's really critical with the aging workforce that we have a pipeline of student to enter these careers."
Some of the exhibits included a robot controlled by a smartphone as well as balsa wood planes.
