Maine-Endwell PTA Holds "Protect Our Schools" Event

Posted:
Community members of the Maine-Endwell school district gathered outside the middle school Wednesday night to show their support for public education.

The educators, parents, students and residents came together to show a sign of solidarity at the district's "protect our school's event. They say they're taking a stand against the Governor's education reform proposal and want to raise awareness for what they say public schools need: equitable funding for all state school districts, restoration of state aid and smaller class sizes.

Edward Bernhauer the Treasurer of Homer Brink PTA said, "It's also to get the message out there to other tax payers. This is not Governor Cuomo's decision, it's not legislations decision, it's our decision as tax payers. And we need to get other tax payer involved and informed and a part of this."

Endwell resident Bridgette Hathaway said, "They are working so hard and do such a good job that they deserve all of the support that they can get. So to be cutting support at this point is just ludicrous."

Several schools across New York will be taking part in a state wide "protect our schools" demonstration on March 26th.
