BU Seniors hoping to prolong season

Posted:
As the 8th seed in the America East tournament, the odds are stacked against the Bearcats as they hope to make a run deep into the postseason. One thing in their favor, BU is hosting the first two rounds of the conference playoffs. Head Coach Linda Cimino also thinks, despite a pair of double digit losses to #1 seed Maine in the regular season, that they stack up well against the Black Bears and have them well scouted.

For BU senior Sherae Swinson, her next game could be her last, but she's hoping for a little Cinderella magic.

"People are going to underestimate us because we are the last seed, but that just gives us more fuel to play harder and upset someone," said Swinson. "So, I think we're ready. We've got some work to do this week, but I think we're excited to play, even though we are the 8 seed, we're going to come out and play hard."

"Everybody in March wants to shock the world," said Cimino. "You just want to be in the tournament and we're lucky that we're in the tournament. Even as the 8 seed it doesn't matter. For us it's just about playing well, playing our best basketball right now, playing together as a team. Being the 8 seed, we tied with Vermont, we lost the tie breaker, so we're the 8-seed by chance, but it's a better matchup for us."

BU plays Maine on Saturday at 12:00 at the Events Center
